Christian Acronym :: T.G.I.F

The Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines the abbreviation TGIF as “Thank God It’s Friday” highlighting the celebration of the completion of the work week.

Many years ago, on one Friday (Luke 23:54), Jesus Christ, the innocent and sinless Son of God was murdered on a cruel Cross to pay for the redemption of mankind from their sins. On that Friday, Jesus affirmed to God the Father, by crying out “It is Finished (Tetelastai)” indicating that His sacrifice was the completion of God’s work of providing for man, The Way of redemption. Those who awaited the Salvation of the Lord could finally say, “Thank God It’s Friday (T.G.I.F)”

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Master?

Luke 23:39-54 (KJV)
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44

46
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47
Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48
And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49
And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50
And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51
(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52
This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54
And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Christian Acronym :: S.O.S

On the night of the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic, the silence of the supposedly peaceful night was broken by the inaudible morse code distress S.O.S call, as the luxury liner struck an iceberg and sunk to a watery grave. The signal was three dots, three dashes and three dots (‘ ‘ ‘ – – – ‘ ‘ ‘), which translated to S.O.S. One of the meanings of S.O.S interestingly is  Save Our Souls (the other being Save Our Ship). But did you wonder why someone would cry Save Our Souls when it is their physical being (bodies) that needed saving. Many perished that night as the band on the ship sang the song of assurance “Nearer My God to Thee” and sacrificed themselves.

The world today is crying out with inaudible signals, Save Our Souls (S.O.S) and there is only one who can do so. His name is Jesus Christ. Not only can He save us from physical danger and death, but when one believes in Him, his/her soul is saved from spiritual death and eternal damnation. Are we expressing with an abnegating life that “Nearer to our God we are” when we believe in Jesus Christ. All who don’t believe in Him will be engulfed by the grave. The only way to S.O.S is to believe in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 10:28 (KJV)
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

John 3:16-17 (KJV)
16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
