Christian Cannot :: Serve two masters

There are a few things that are impossible according to the Bible. In other words, these are the things that a Christian cannot be or do. Matthew 6:24 expresses that a Christian cannot serve God and mammon. In other words, as a Christian, one cannot serve two masters.

Points to ponder:
There are many Christians who want or claim to serve Jesus Christ, but closer scrutiny reveals a lifestyle that revolves around the love of money, which is the root of all evil. Are you like one of them? Am I like one of them? Think of the areas in your life where your pursuits for worldly gain (primarily monetary) trump your service to God. Once you have that list, prayerfully commit the contents of that list to the Lord Jesus Christ, seeking his strength to swear allegiance to him alone and for him to be your sole Master. Who is your Master? Who is my Master? Let us remember, a Christian cannot serve both God and money (or for that matter any other thing).

Matthew 6:24 (KJV)
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Christian Cannot :: Divorce and Communion

There are a few things that are impossible according to the Bible. In other words, these are the things that a Christian cannot be or do. 1 Corinthians 10:21 expresses that a Christian cannot partake of God and of the devil. In other words, as a Christian, one must divorce himself of the worldly things to be in communion with Christ.

Points to ponder:
There are many Christians who want/claim to be in communion with Christ, but who are unwilling to let go of their worldly lusts and things that are contrary to Christ, that are part of this world. Are you like one of them? Am I like one of them? Think of the things that you partake of — the things that you are part of and more importantly the things that are part of you. Once you have that list, prayerfully commit those to the Lord Jesus Christ, seeking his strength to have communion with none other than Jesus Christ and remember, a Christian cannot partake of God and of the devil.

1 Corinthians 10:21 (KJV)
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

Christian Cannot :: Denial and Discipleship

There are a few things that are impossible according to the Bible. In other words, these are the things that a Christian cannot be or do. Luke 14:26 expresses that a Christian cannot live to self and be a disciple of Jesus Christ. In other words, as a Christian, one must deny self to be a disciple.

Points to ponder:
There are many Christians who want/claim to be a disciple of Christ, but who are unwilling to deny themselves. Are you like one of them? Am I like one of them? Think of the things that you cannot give up — the things that you simply cannot give up. Once you have that list, prayerfully commit those to the Lord Jesus Christ, seeking his strength to give up what you cannot give up and let Jesus Christ, be your Master. Let us remember, a Christian cannot live to self and be a disciple of Christ.

Luke 14:26 (KJV)
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
