Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Rescue Worker

Rescue workers are professionals who go into harms way (in many cases voluntarily) to aid and assist in the rescue of people who are impacted by natural or man-made disasters.

Jesus came to do the will of God who sent him and to finish the work of God (John 4:34) which was to save mankind from the man-made disaster that resulted from the disobedience of Adam, the man (1 Corinthians 15:21-22). He is a God who rescues and does wonders (Daniel 6:27). And all who believe in him are rescued from the clutches of the devil who had the power of death (Hebrews 2:14). Jesus is The Ultimate Rescue Worker.

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Realtor

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook states that the role of a real estate broker or sales agent is to help clients buy, sell, and rent properties. eHow.com’s article “What is the role of a realtor as a buyer’s agent”, by contributing author Diane Stevens, describes what the realtor does in order to help the client find their next home and highlights some of the functions that the realtor does, which are “locating properties”, “educating buyers”, “negotiating” and “providing recommendations (with the best interest of the client in mind).” The realtor however does not force the buyer, but instead leaves it to the buyer to choose from what he/she recommends.

Armed with this knowledge, would it be possible to regard Jesus as a realtor then? Well, let’s take a look. Jesus said, behold I am going to prepare a place for you (John 14:2-3). In other words, you could say that he went ahead of us to locate the property, whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10). He is a teacher from God (John 3:2) educating us that no one can move into “God’s house” except by him (John 14:6). To all who believe in him and to them that have received him, he gave them the right to be called the children of God (John 1:12) – in other words, he made them eligible to move into God’s house and make it their own. He is the advocate who represents us before God the Father, negotiating on our behalf and qualifies us, when we trust in him (1 John 2:1). He opens the invitation for all and recommends us to move into God’s house so that where he is, we may be also (John 14:2-3). The choice is however ours to make as to whether we trust Jesus, The Realtor and move into God’s house or not.

Points to ponder:
Jesus, The Realtor has your and mine best interest in his mind. Have you trusted in him to represent you before God so that you can move into God’s house as his child?

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Quality Assurance Specialist

The primary role of a quality assurance specialist is to ensure that the end product, when presented to the stakeholder, is not only free of faults but it is also to put processes in place to prevent the product from defects. Quality assurance is sometimes given as a guarantee to the stakeholder. In such a motif, would we be able to consider Jesus as a Quality Assurance Specialist? Absolutely.

Man is conceived in sin (Psalm 51:5). In other words, born with defect; and because of his fallen (defective) state (1 Corinthians 15:22), man has the destiny of being separated from God, the stakeholder. The only way, man can be made free of the sin defect is by believing in Jesus and receiving him to be his/her Quality Assurance Specialist. Jesus The Quality Assurance Specialist, willingly put in his “sweat-blood equity” (Luke 22:44) to lay out the process of Salvation, when he willingly sacrificed himself on the Cross, to make man defect-free. All man needs to do now is to believe in Jesus. Jesus The Quality Assurance Specialist is the only one who can prevent (keep) us from falling (become defective) and is the only one who can present us faultless (defect-free) before God our stakeholder (Jude 1:24-25) and to him be all glory, and majesty and dominion and power, both now and forever more.

Have you been made defect-free (blameless) by Jesus The Quality Assurance Specialist?

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Psychiatrist

In September 2011, FoxNews.com ran an article entitled “Was Jesus the First Psychiatrist?”. It was written by Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and member of the Fox News Medical A-Team who expressed his opinion to answer the question “What do Jesus, Psychology and Psychiatry have in common?” But would one be able to deem Jesus as a Psychiatrist?

Psychiatrists are in essence physicians who diagnose and treat illnesses related to the mind. The article is an interesting one and in it, Dr. Ablow writes, “With this focus on classification, technology, statistics and medication, it would be easy to lose sight of the heart and soul of psychiatry and psychology, which has always been just this: People suffer to the extent that they are removed from the truth. People are healed to the extent that they embrace it, no matter the cost.” Rightfully so, the farther the patient is from the truth they seek, the more ill they are.

Jesus is The Psychiatrist. Just as a patient will express their concerns and mental state to a psychiatrist, we can all express our cares and burdens to Jesus, because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). He will listen to each one of us and when our minds are stayed on him, instead of on our problems, He will give perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3).

Points to ponder:
People suffer to the extent they are removed from the truth. Jesus is The Truth (John 14:6) and people suffer when they are removed from Him.  If we keep our minds fixed on Jesus, God will grant us perfect peace. Have you cast your burdens on Jesus The Psychiatrist who cares for you? Is your mind fixed on Him or in other words, do you have perfect peace?

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Project Manager

The Project Management Book of Knowledge describes the role of a project manager to be as follows: “A project manager is the person who keeps all the elements of a project together. He is the “man in charge” of the project and must take responsibility as the project leader, working often within the constraints of scope, time and cost.”

In God’s project of reconciling man with God, Jesus Christ is the “man in charge”. He kept the elements of God’s Salvation project together and as the project leader, worked within the elements of scope (reconciliation of all mankind unto God; 2 Peter 3:9),  time (when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth Jesus, his Son to be born of a woman to redeem and Save all mankind who were under the law; Galatians 4:4-5) and cost (willingly laying down his very own life; John 10:18). Jesus Christ is The Project Manager.

Points to ponder:
Are you in God’s project of being reconciled unto him under Jesus Christ, the “man in charge”?  If so, you can be guaranteed of success, because Jesus The Project Manager always delivers when “God’s” time comes, within “God’s” scope and has paid the cost.

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Pilot

I once heard the story of a man and a little girl that were flying in the same airplane, when suddenly a storm broke out. All the passengers in the airplane visibly expressed their emotions of panic and apprehension, which this man shared as well. While the future of the flight seemed ominous, a little girl kept reading a book as if the storm meant nothing to her. She was calm, composed, not worried and unafraid. When the airplane reached the destination, as the passengers disembarked, the man reached out to the girl and asked as to how she could be so calm and composed amidst the storm. The little girl responded, “Sir, my dad is the pilot, and he is taking me home.”

The sailor’s hymn, “Jesus, Savior, Pilot me” is a classic whose first and last stanza are as follows:
Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

When at last I near the shore,
And the fearful breakers roar
’Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”

Jesus is The Pilot. He carries us over any of life’s tempestuous situations; He carries us home. Exodus 19:4 states that God carried the Israelites out of Egypt on Eagle’s wings and brought them to himself. What does this mean? The Prophet Ezekiel sees in his vision, four faces in the cherubs that are indicative of the four-fold person of Jesus Christ – one face of a lion, one face of an ox, one face of a Man and one face of an eagle (Ezekiel 1:10). Jesus in the book of Matthew is portrayed as a King (face of lion; Lion of Judah). In the book of Mark, Jesus is portrayed as a faithful servant (face of an ox) while the book of Luke portrays Jesus as the Son of Man (face of man). The book of John portrays Jesus as the Son of God (face of an eagle). Since man cannot fly on his own, God sent his Eagle, Jesus Christ, to carry his people, back to himself.

Points to ponder:
Jesus The Pilot carries us and takes us to our home with God (in heavenly places). Ephesians 2:6 states that he has made us sit in heavenly places (our home). Are you being carried by Jesus The Pilot? For when he does, we have nothing to be worried about, and we can be calm, composed and unafraid, amidst all storms. He is saying “Fear not, I will pilot thee.”

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Optometrist

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, an optometrist is a professional who performs eye exams to check for vision problems and diseases and prescribes eyeglasses or contact lenses as needed to help recover sight.  The day after my Lasik eye surgery, I saw with such clarity that an incredible sense of joy just filled my being and I could emphatically relate to the expression of the blind man, whose sight Jesus restored – “I was once blind, but now I see.” (John 9:25).

Jesus said that the Spirit of the Lord was upon him and one of his charters was to recover sight to the blind (Luke 4:18). Jesus is The Optometrist, who can help you recover your spiritual sight in order for you to be able to see the sovereignty of God in your life. The Bible says, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8) and only Jesus can make us have a pure heart (by his grace through faith when we believe in Him). The devil (god of this world) has blinded the eyes of many who do not believe, lest the glorious light of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Points to ponder:
Only with Jesus The Optometrist, can you truly say, “I was once blind, but now I see.” Are you blind or can you see? Has Jesus The Optometrist recovered your sight so that you can see the glory of God and bring glory to his Name?

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Nurse

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, a nurse (registered nurse) provides and coordinates patient care, educates patients and the public about various health conditions, and provides advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. In other words, a nurse is one who dispenses medicines and is a caregiver to those who are sick.

The Bible teaches us that with the stripes of Jesus we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). In other words, Jesus is The Nurse who provides spiritual medicine for the healing of our souls with his stripes. The Bible also advises us to cast all our burdens (worries and cares) on Jesus, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Jesus, The Nurse dispenses saving medicine and he cares for us.

Points to ponder:
Jesus gives the medicine to save your soul, unreservedly when you believe in him, and he cares for you, so don’t worry about anything, but give him all your worries and cares. Are you under the care of Jesus The Nurse?

Professional Speaking :: Jesus The Magician

The first part of the lyrics of the song, “King Herod’s Song” in Andrew Llyod Webber’s rock opera classic, “Jesus Christ Superstar” goes as follows:
“Jesus, I am overjoyed to meet you face to face. You’ve been getting quite a name all around the place.
Healing cripples, raising from the dead. And now I understand you’re God, At least, that’s what you’ve said.
So, you are the Christ, you’re the great Jesus Christ. Prove to me that you’re divine; change my water into wine.
That’s all you need do, then I’ll know it’s all true. Come on, King of the Jews.
Jesus, you just won’t believe the hit you’ve made around here. You are all we talk about, the wonder of the year.
Oh what a pity if it’s all a lie. Still, I’m sure that you can rock the cynics if you tried.

This is a musical rendition of the account mentioned in Luke 23:6-12. When Jesus was brought before Herod, Herod was exceedingly glad to finally meet him face to face, since Herod had heard a great deal of Jesus’ doings and expected some sort of miracle to be performed by Jesus for him. Herod sought more of a magic show than a true miracle that brought glory to God and Jesus remained silent before Herod. Herod then ridicules and mocks Jesus and sends him back to Pilate and on that very same day, Herod and Pilate became friends, for they were enemies before that. What Herod failed to recognize was that while Jesus did not perform a magical sign before Herod, when he was asked to, magic did happen that day – for enemies became friends.

Points to ponder:
Those who are in love with the world are enemies of God (James 4:4). Jesus, The Magician is the Only One who can make us friends with God (Romans 5:10-11). Are you a friend of God? If not, believe in Jesus, The Magician (Superstar), and become a friend of God.

I  gave my six year old son, Reuben a pen and a paper and asked him to draw something that came to his mind. He drew two pictures, one of which was Jesus on the Cross and the other one was a picture of Peter, the disciple of Jesus Christ, walking on water. A well-known one-liner that is often seen on Christian T-Shirts is “My lifeguard walks on water” referring to this account of Peter walking on water, when he had his eyes fixed on Jesus.

A lifeguard is one who is responsible to ensure the safety of others from drowning. A lifeguard is vigilant often spotting and sensing terminal danger. A person who is drowning is responded to, the moment he makes eye contact with the lifeguard, especially when he is in the need of being saved. Jesus is The Lifeguard.

Jesus is vigilant and always watching, never sleeping nor slumbering, always sensing and spotting any danger to our soul and life (Psalm 121:3-5,7-8). We can lift up our eyes to Jesus Christ, the Lord and Lifeguard, from whom comes our help (Psalm 121:1).  The Bible teaches us that we do not need to worry about anything, but instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then we will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything that we can understand and His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. In other words, when you feel you are drowning in life situations, don’t worry – for Jesus The Lifeguard walks on water.

Points to ponder:
Do you have the peace of God guarding your heart and mind? Don’t worry about anything but in and for everything pray and give thanks, after fixing your eyes on Jesus The Lifeguard, looking unto Him, the author and finisher of our faith, whose peace passeth all understanding. When Jesus The Lifeguard is holding on to you and me, we cannot drown in life’s situation, no matter how stormy the wind or high the waves.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
