Russian born, American novelist, biochemist and Sci-fi author, Issac Asimov is attributed to have quoted “In life, unlike chess, the game continues after checkmate.” Ironically, Mr. Asimov, who claimed to be an atheist, was affirming a vital truth that is in the Bible, as recorded in Hebrews 9:27. It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. In other words, It is appointed unto men to die, and life continues beyond the checkmate.

Points to ponder:
Just as in the game of chess, there are two sides – one white, and the other black, so also in life there are two types of people – the black and the white. The ones who have believed and repented of their sins, who have been washed by the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, are arrayed in white robes of righteousness (Revelation 7:13-14). The ones who are unrepentant continue to be stained with the darkness of sin and are in need of Jesus, the Savior. For both groups of people, life goes beyond the checkmate.  One short sleep and we wake eternally and face judgment for life continues beyond the checkmate of death. How will you face God the judge? In Black or White?
