Many places in the Bible, we see that God is saying “I will give”. In Revelation 2:23, Jesus says, “I will give unto every one of you according to your works.”
We live in a world that seeks to be rewarded and one that rewards merit, but the Bible teaches us that our reward is not of this world, but the one to come, when we see Jesus face to face. There is no mistaking that the gift of God is eternal life to everyone who believes in Jesus and it is free, solely based on grace and grace alone and not by any works but the rewards that Jesus has to give are apportioned according to our works. These are the very words of Jesus (Revelation 2:23). All will stand before the judgment seat of God and will be judged and rewarded favorably (sharing in God’s happiness, reigning with him) for their faithfulness or unfavorably (separated from God and ruined apart from him) for their lack of faith and unfaithfulness. (Matthew 25:21-29).
Points to ponder:
When Jesus comes, he said, he will give us his reward according to our works? Are you and I good and faithful servants, serving him and his people as he wants us to?
Revelation 2:23 (KJV)
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
