God’s I will give :: Reward

Many places in the Bible, we see that God is saying “I will give”. In Revelation 2:23, Jesus says, “I will give unto every one of you according to your works.”

We live in a world that seeks to be rewarded and one that rewards merit, but the Bible teaches us that our reward is not of this world, but the one to come, when we see Jesus face to face. There is no mistaking that the gift of God is eternal life to everyone who believes in Jesus and it is free, solely based on grace and grace alone and not by any works but the rewards that Jesus has to give are apportioned according to our works. These are the very words of Jesus (Revelation 2:23). All will stand before the judgment seat of God and will be judged and rewarded favorably (sharing in God’s happiness, reigning with him) for their faithfulness or unfavorably (separated from God and ruined apart from him) for their lack of faith and unfaithfulness. (Matthew 25:21-29).

Points to ponder:
When Jesus comes, he said, he will give us his reward according to our works? Are you and I good and faithful servants, serving him and his people as he wants us to?

Revelation 2:23 (KJV)
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

God’s I will give :: Crown of life

Many places in the Bible, we see that God is saying “I will give”. In Revelation 2:10, Jesus says, “I will give you a crown of life, for those who are faithful unto death.”

We live in a world that seeks to live – live a long life as is evident from the advances in medicine and technologies that prolong life. But the Bible teaches us that he who seeks to save his life shall lose it but whoever loses his life for Jesus’ sake shall find it (Matthew 16:25). Not only will the one who fears none and is faithful unto death for Jesus find life, life eternal, but he/she will be crowned – crowned with a crown of life that is everlasting.

Points to ponder:
We must die to self and sin so that our bodies are living sacrifices, presentable and acceptable unto God, which is our spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1-2). Jesus said, I will give you a crown of life, but it is for those who fear none and are faithful unto death. Are you/Am I?

Revelation 2:10 (KJV)
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

God’s I will give :: Words and Wisdom

Many places in the Bible, we see that God is saying “I will give”. In Luke 21:14-15, God is saying, “Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

We live in a world seeking answers, questioning many a times, the very existence of God and ridiculing and persecuting those who believe in the one true and living God, Jesus Christ. Jesus said, as part of the persecution, you shall be handed over before kings and rulers (who would seek your testimony), in defense of the glorious gospel of his, but he promised to give us “words and wisdom”, when we stand before these powers. But we must be careful to not take Jesus’ words partially, since Jesus said ” I will give you words (mouth) and wisdom“, but he counseled us not to be pre-conceived with thoughts and anxiety to defend the gospel, because the defense of the gospel is by the presence, power and persuasion of the Holy Spirit of God and not by mere human words or wisdom.

Points to ponder:
Don’t be anxious about what you have to say to defend the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, for the words and the wisdom will be given unto you.

Luke 21:14-15 (KJV)
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

God’s I will give :: Rest

Many places in the Bible, we see that God is saying “I will give”. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

We live in a restless world, pursuing the things of the world that promises us rest (peace of mind and heart and body and soul). Interestingly, the R.I.P (Rest In Peace) epitaphs on tombstone indicate that real rest comes after death, but there is a fallacy in such inscriptions. True rest does not come to those who have succumbed to death but to those who have conquered it by believing in God’s only begotten son, Jesus Christ. True rest cannot be found in anyone else, other than Jesus Christ. But we must be careful to not take Jesus’  words partially, but in its totality. Jesus did not say, “I will give you rest”, but instead said, “Come unto me … and I will give you rest.” To find true rest, we must come to Jesus, i.e., talk the step to encounter him first.

Points to ponder:
Do you have rest in your life (in this one and for the one to come)? If not, “Come to Jesus” and he will give you rest – real true rest.

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
