Memorial day is celebrated annually, in the United States of America, on the 26th of January, in memory of the many men and women who served the country, with their lives. They are remembered for their life even though they are dead physically.

If you would allow me to indulge myself to take you on a fantasy journey, then, for a moment, pause from whatever you are doing, and imagine that you are at a funeral – your funeral. Your spirit has left your body and from the air you see the proceedings of your funeral. No one there is speaking about the “humongous” house you had, the “cool” car you drove, or the “big” bank balance. Each of the people who are sharing are sharing about your “life” and remembering you for the “legacy” you have left behind, not necessarily ‘for’, but ‘in’ someone.

Most of all you are remembered for the ‘selfless’ investments, you made in people’s life, the most significant of which is the one that matters for them, not only in this life, but the one that assures them of the one to come. Jesus said, “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”

Points to ponder:
Kingdoms come and kingdoms go, and through the word of God, we know – when all in life is done and past, only that which is done for Christ will last. Whoever shall lose his life for the name of Jesus Christ, shall find it, in this world and the one to come. This memorial day, think about it – What will you be remembered for?

Memorial day is celebrated in the United States, commemorating men and women who gave their lives while in military service. Soldiers are not forgotten on this day and they are honored.

The Soldier of all soldiers and the Champion of all champions, Jesus Christ, who vanquished even death (1 Corinthians 15:55-57), ought not to be forgotten and he ought to be honored, and the Bible teaches us not to forget God our Creator in the days of our youth (Ecclesiastes 12:1) and to not leave our first love (Jesus Christ) (Revelation 2:4), who first loved us (1 John 4:19), while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8), but to remember and return and do the first works (Revelation 2:5). Let us not forget; Let us remember and repent of our ways and return to him, says God.

Moina Michael, U.S Professor and humanitarian, commonly known as the Poppy Lady, writes in her renowned poem, “We shall keep the faith”, that the blood of heroes never dies.

Before Jesus was crucified, he met with his disciples in communion (at what is known familiarly as the event of the Last Supper) and told them to remember.

His words were to remember as one partakes of the communion, but what are we to remember?
We ought to remember that the wrath of God was poured on Jesus, so that the GRACE of God could be poured on us.
We ought to remember that, Jesus was forsaken so that we could be adopted.
We ought to remember that because Jesus willingly gave up his communion with God, we can now have communion with God.
We ought to remember that Jesus’ body was broken and his blood was shed, so that ours would not have to be.
We ought to remember that Jesus died (for our sake), so that we can live and live abundantly (under His Lordship).

We must keep the faith for His Blood which brings the remission of sins, covers and washes all unrighteousness. The Blood of Jesus Christ, The HERO never dies.

Points to ponder:
This Memorial day, are you and I honoring Him by remembering Him?
Can it be told of you and me, “He/She shall keep the faith”?

It is memorial day in the year of the Lord 2010, which is a federal holiday in the United States, commemorating men and women who gave their lives while in military service. Soldiers are not forgotten on this day and they are honored.  Interestingly, our God is a God who does not forget His people and His promises to those who are faithful as soldiers (in spiritual warfare) to Him. Being righteous, He does not forget the works and labor of love (ministry) shown toward His name and His glory (Hebrews 6:10) and to those who serve him, He has promised that God the Father would honor them (John 12:26). Martyrs and those who serve as soldiers for Christ are not forgotten and honored by God. Onward Christian Soldiers, for God does not forget; He celebrates memorial day in honor of those who work and labor for him in love.

10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
