Albert Einstein was a fool

Major news agencies on October 4th, 2012 reported that an original 1954 stamped envelope and a handwritten letter which shed light on the famed scientist and Nobel prize winner Albert Einstein’s religious belief was to be going to be auctioned on eBay starting October 8th, 2012 and ending ten days later. It was reported that the opening bid on what came to be dubbed as Einstein’s “God Letter” would be $3 million dollars. This letter was written to the Jewish philosopher Eric Gutkind, a year before Einstein died, as a response to Gutkind’s book “Choose Life: The Biblical Call to Revolt.” In this letter, Einstein writes, “The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends, No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.”

Undoubtedly, Einstein was one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th century and I mean no disrespect to him for his contributions to the discipline of Physics, but if I was to meet him, face to face, I would tell him, that he is a fool, not because I am any more smarter than he was, but because of a strong Biblical conviction. Failing to recognize the sovereignty of God and unable to explain “why evil exists”, Einstein questioned the existence of a personal God and reduced the God of the universe who created him with strengths and weaknesses as a product of human weaknesses. The man who came up with the theory of relativity, postulating that the speed of light in a vacuum is constant regardless of their relative motion or of the motion of the source of the light, failed to recognize that the speed (timing) of the LIGHT of the world, Jesus Christ, in a vacuum (a life without Jesus) is constant regardless of his relative motion (mental state of understanding the Sovereignty and Salvation of God) or of the motion (working) of the source of the LIGHT of the world (God). Jesus is the light of the world and he is the constant – same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) and only a fool says in his heart that there is no God (Psalms 14:1) or that God is nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses. To say (or write) such a thing. in and of itself, is a weak expression.

Points to ponder:
God is Sovereign irrespective of the existence of evil. Job suffered evil but in and through his experiences, he realized that God is sovereign and  always in control and recognized that His Redeemer lives. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever and his love for you and me and for that matter to anyone, whether they refuse to change or not, is a constant – the same. Are you a fool denying the existence of God or are you wise, fearing God, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10)?  Let no man deceive himself. If any of you seem to be wise, let him become a fool so that he may be wise, for the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God (1 Corinthians 3:18); the God, Only Wise (Jude 1:25).

We stall we fall

When watching one of Reuben’s videos on “Taking Flight”, something that caught my attention was the principle of stalling. The principle is simple, which is when we stall, we fall.

In fluid and aerodynamics, a “stall” is a condition when the coefficient of lift is reduced due to an increase in the angle known as the Angle of Attack (AOA). As long as the force (moving air) under an airplane can be applied against the body (mainly wings) of the airplane, it can lift the airplane to greater heights, but if the angle of the airplane body in increased such that the force underneath the airplane cannot be applied to lift the airplane, the airplane stalls and then falls. Extrapolating this principle, I realized that, when our lives are angled appropriately on Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit of God can help us soar on wings like eagles to highest of heights, but when our lives tilt towards the things of the world that are not in Christ Jesus, we stall and we fall.

To indeed soar on wings like eagles, we must first wait (rest) on the LORD, i.e., we must be inclined (angled) on Christ. Otherwise, we will stall and we will fall.

Equal and opposite reaction

Someone once asked, “If you are not as close to God as you used to be, who moved?” God is the same yesterday, today and forever and He is constantly and consistently seeking our friendship and fellowship. He is unchangeable (Hebrews 7:24) and does not move away from those who move away from Him. In fact, the Bible portrays God to be the expectant Father, waiting daily, for the return of his prodigal sons/daughters.

Newton’s third law of Thermodynamics states that “For every action, there is equal and opposite reaction”. The same is true when it comes to agreeing and becoming closer/one with God. God is one who draws near to those who draw near unto him. The initiative should be ours to draw near (first); to backslide from backsliding and when we take the initiative to draw closer to Him, God takes the initiative to draw closer to us. For our action of drawing near to God, there is equal and opposite reaction of God drawing near unto us (James 4:8).

Law of Banking on Jesus

BankingOfRoads In order for vehicles with high speed to negotiate the curve on the road, without running off of it, the angle of the incline for the road must be first determined. It is equationally represented as tan θ = v2/rg where ‘v’ is the velocity (speed), ‘r’ is the radius (how far) of the curve and ‘g’ is the force of gravity. This expression represents the speed at which the vehicle does not skid along the banked road for the given angle of inclination (θ). This is commonly known as the ‘Banking of Roads’ principle.

An application of this physical law in our Spiritual life could be used to derive what I call the Law of Banking on Jesus. The Law of Banking on Jesus states that “For a person life to be not derailed from his path toward God, he must be banked (inclined) on Jesus which is a factor of his velocity (speed) toward conforming into the likeness of Jesus, the distance (radius) from Jesus and the force of the world.”

In other words, the angle (θ) of our dependence (inclination) on Jesus tangentially is dependent on

  1. the haste (‘v’) we make not delaying in keeping his commandments,
  2. the closer (‘r’) we draw near to him and
  3. the weaker the force (‘g’) of loving this world is in our lives.

I pray that we all bank on Jesus. Anything else, our lives will be off course, skidding away.

Law of Universal Attraction

LawOfUniversalGravitationWhat causes the 1st and 2nd law of Newton to operate is the Law of Universal Gravitation which was first published in 1687 by Newton in the Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica. This Law states that ‘Any two bodies in the universe are attracted to each other with a force that is proportional to the masses of the two bodies and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.’

It is equationally represented as F α Gm1m2 / r2 where F is force; m1 is the mass of one body and m2 is the mass of the other body and r is center-to-center distance between the two bodies and G is “gravitational constant”

An application of this physical law in our Spiritual life could be used to derive what I call the Law of Universal Attraction. The Law of Universal Attraction states that “The  force of our attraction to Jesus Christ in inversely proportional to the distance between us and Jesus Christ, with the Gravitational pull of the love of Jesus Christ being a constant.” In other words, the closer we are to Jesus Christ, the greater His force will be in our lives and the farther we are from Jesus Christ, the weaker we feel His force in our life. Remember Jesus’ words, ‘Abide in me and I in you, for without me, you can do nothing‘.

The center-to-center distance between us and Christ determine His power in our lives. The more Christ centered we are, with the center of our lives revolving around the central will of God the more proximate we will be to Him and greater His force will be in our lives.

Law of Reciprocal Relations

Newton’s Third Law (Lex III) which is “Actioni contrariam semper et æqualem esse reactionem: sive corporum duorum actiones in se mutuo semper esse æquales et in partes contrarias dirigi.” states that ‘The forces of two bodies on each other are always equal and are directed in opposite directions.’. Newton’s third law is referred to as the law of reciprocal actions and is simplified as ‘To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.’

An application of this physical law in our Spiritual life could be used to derive what I call the Law of Reciprocal Relations. The Law of Reciprocal Relations states that “The love force of Jesus Christ and the love forces of the World on each other are opposingly equal and directed in opposite directions.” Remember Jesus’ words, ‘no man can serve two masters‘ (Matthew 6:24). The Bible also warns us that He who is a friend of the world is an enemy of God (James 4:4).

It may also be said that just as for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, the more we are attracted to the things of the world, the more the world attracts us and the more we are to draw near unto God, the more He will draw near unto us (James 4:8).

Let’s choose this day, where our allegiance lies and what forces draw us in its direction. I pray it is the love force of Jesus Christ.

Law of the Force of Christ

LawOfTheForceNewton’s Second Law (Lex II) which is “Mutationem motus proportionalem esse vi motrici impressae, et fieri secundum lineam rectam qua vis illa imprimitur.” states that ‘Observed from an inertial reference frame, the net force on a particle is equal to the time rate of change of its linear momentum’. Newton’s second law can also be referred to as the law of the force.

An application of this physical law in our Spiritual life could be used to derive what I call the Law of the Force of Christ. The Law of the Force of Christ states that “observed from an Spiritual reference frame, the net force of Jesus Christ on a person is equal to the time and the constancy of that individual’s focus on Jesus Christ.”

Newton observed that in a physical realm, for a given force, the greater the mass of the object, the smaller its acceleration. In a Spiritual realm, for the force of Jesus Christ, the greater the mass of our own self, the smaller our acceleration will be toward Him. The more time we focus on Christ Jesus with a constant and unwavering mind, we will have less time to focus on own self (a.k.a. lesser our head weight) and greater our drive will be toward Him. The weighty matter is therefore this, the more we decrease (our own self), the greater His force will be in our lives and we can relate to what John the Baptist said, that He must increase and we must decrease (John 3:30).

Law of Sinful Inertia

Every body persists in its state of being at rest or of moving uniformly straight forward, except insofar as it is compelled to change its state by force impressed.
There exists a set of inertial reference frames relative to which all particles with no net force acting on them will move without change in their velocity. This law is often simplified as “A body persists its state of rest or of uniform motion unless acted upon by an external unbalanced force.” Newton’s first law is often referred to as the law of inertia.
