The Lord’s perpetuity, presence and promise

When the Lord appeared to Isaac at Beersheba, he assured Isaac of:
– his perpetuity (I am the God of Abraham thy father),
– his presence (I am with thee), and
– his promise (I will bless thee and multiply thy seed).

Points to ponder:
Jesus said that before Abraham was he is (John 8:58) and that Abraham saw his day and rejoiced (John 8:56). Jesus also established that he and the Father God are one (John 10:30). Jesus is everlasting chosen from even before the foundations of the world (1 Peter 1:20). Jesus is perpetual.
Jesus said that he is with his followers, always, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). Jesus is with all who open their lives to him (Revelation 3:20), believing in him and have receiving him as their Savior, Master and Lord (Revelation 3:20).
In Jesus Christ, we are blessed in heavenly places with spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3-6).

If you think your life is short, come to Jesus who is perpetual and in whom is eternal life.
If you think that you are all alone, be assured the Jesus has promised to be with you always.
If you think that your life is a curse, in Christ Jesus, you are blessed with spiritual blessings (chosen by God, cleansed by God, adopted as a child of God, credited into the Lamb of God’s book of life) in heavenly places.
The question that remains is: Are you blessed with spiritual blessings in heavenly places, by a perpetual, ever-present, promise keeping God? In other words, are you in Christ, having believed in him as Savior, Lord and Master of your life? The contrary is a dire situation. Are you blessed in Christ Jesus?

Genesis 26:24-25 (KJV)
24 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

Ephesians 1:3-6 (KJV)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

God amongst the gentiles

Genesis 12:6 and 7 reads “And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.”

Did you notice that in the land where the gentiles (Canaanites lived), the Lord appeared unto Abram, the one deemed as the Father of the Jews (John 8:39). One of the meanings of the word ‘Moreh’ means teacher. When Jesus was on earth, Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, recognized him as a teacher from God, for the miracles he did (John 3:2). Jesus later expresses to the unbelieving Jews, that Abraham saw his day (the Seed who would be given all the land) and rejoiced (John 8:56), which fits perfectly to this verse in Genesis, that the Lord appeared unto Abram, in the land of the gentiles. This is Jesus amongst the gentiles.

Points to ponder:
Today, in this gentile world, all Christians can take heart for God is amongst the gentiles. God the Father is in heaven, God the Son is along side him in heaven but God the Holy Spirit is amongst us. Has he appeared unto you, teaching you of his ways?

Jesus in the OT :: Habakkuk

In Christian, Jesus in the O.T.

The book of Habakkuk gives us a glimpse of who Jesus is in the Old Testament (O.T).

The name ‘Habakkuk’ means the one who embraces (or) clings. Habakkuk was a contemporary of the weeping prophet, Jeremiah. If Hosea is the Prophet with a Prostitute, then Habakkuk is the Prophet with a Problem and the problem is phrased in a question, very much reflective of what we face today! How Long O Lord, How long will I have to cry and You will not hear or save us? For how much longer Lord, will the wicked prosper and your people perish? Not only is God’s promise of an answer stated in Habakkuk 2:3 which states slowly, steadily and surely the answer will come but his work that would truly be unbelievable is assured. Even if God was to say what he was going to do, the people would not have believed it (Habakkuk 1:5) is what the Bible records.

Habakkuk 1:12 states that God is an everlasting God, a Holy One. Jesus said, Before Abraham was, I AM (John 8:58). When the demons saw Jesus they declared He is the Holy One of God (Mark 1:24).

Habakkuk 3:13-14 has the redemptive act of Salvation (one that even if it was said, would not have been believed) beautifully hidden.

13 You came out to deliver your people, (Jesus’ birth)
to save your anointed one. (Jesus on the Cross)
You crushed the leader of the land of wickedness, (Satan crushed) you stripped him from head to foot. Selah
14 With his own spear [weapon or staves] you pierced his head

The Cross and Golgotha was Satan’s weapons against Jesus. With Satan’s own weapons (the cross), which looking like an inverted sword, wielded into Golgotha, Satan’s head was crushed as prophesied in Genesis 3:15.

In Habakkuk, Jesus is the one who embraces us and clings on to us, the one who is the everlasting God, the Holy One, the God of our Salvation.

Jesus in the OT :: Daniel

In Christian, Jesus in the O.T.

The book of Daniel gives us a glimpse of who Jesus is in the Old Testament (O.T).

The book can be divided into two major sections. The first half is about the Personal life of Daniel (Chapter 1-6) while the second half  is about the Prophetic life of Daniel (Chapter 7-12), about the visions/revelation to Daniel. Rightfully so, Daniel can be said to be the Revelation of the end times in the O.T.

From the first half of the book, you can see how God is with Daniel and his friends who are faithful, in the midst of fire and fierce lions. God is their judge and the justice of God prevails. The very name Daniel means God is my Judge and you see this character of God being evident in the life of Daniel and his faithful friends. In the story of the 3 Hebrew boys, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, whom we commonly known by their Babylonian names as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, when these boys were thrown into the consuming fire, not only was God’s PROTECTION with them because they came out unscathed, but God’s PRESENCE was with them as well.

The fascinating account is recorded in Daniel 3 and the synopsis of that account is as follows

  1. The boys were cast into the fire bound by the mighty men of the land; They however came out of the fire loosed by the Almighty God of all men
  2. The king saw someone else in the fire whom he identified as the Son of God (Jesus Christ – the Only begotten and beloved Son of God)

Today, irrespective of what your situation is, if you earnestly seek to be free of bondage and the fire around you to be quenched, all you have to do is just open the eyes of your heart and look to Jesus, the Son of God, in the midst of the fire, protecting and freeing you. Pay attention and heed to what He is telling you, for He is the beloved Son of God, in whom God is well pleased.

From the second half of the book, as we continue to explore Christ in the scriptures, lets look at Daniel 7:9 which is recorded as

9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: [on] his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Remember Jesus said , Before Abraham was, I am (John 8:58). He indeed is the Ancient of days, from before the time of Abraham or even creation (Psalm 90:2).
Jesus also said that He saw Satan [star] fall from heaven  (Luke 10:18; Rev 9:1). The throne of Satan cast down.

In Daniel, Jesus is the Ancient of days and He is not only the protecting Son of God but He is also the PRESENT Son of God, in the midst of the fire.
