Are you and I, a Noah?

During the time of Noah, the Bible describes that the entire human race was totally and perpetually evil and God reels sorry for having made man. God decides to destroy all of the human race he created, along with the land animals, creeping things and the birds of the air, but the Bible says, that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. It then goes on to describe who Noah was. It is said of Noah, that he was a just man. He was perfect in his generations and he walked with God.

Habakkuk 2:4 states that the just shall live by faith and Noah by faith, not sight. In fact, Noah’s faith was expressed in action. It was not dead faith but living faith, for he obeyed God and built the ark which God had commanded him to do (Hebrews 11:7). Noah was perfect in his generation meaning that it was credited to him as being righteous for his faith (belief) in the Lord God (Romans 4:3). It was the righteousness of God imputed on his for his faith (belief) in God (Philippians 3:9) and not his own for no one is righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10). Like his forefather Enoch, Noah walked with God. The Bible says that unless two are agreed together, they cannot walk as one (Amos 3:3) meaning that Noah was in agreement with God’s will and plan and subjected his own will to the will of God, heeding his voice.

Finally, it is important to note that Noah did not find grace in the eyes of the Lord because he obeyed and did what God commanded him to do i.e., by his works, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord because he believed through faith, bringing about the Salvation of his family and through his family, the human race. It was the grace of God that saved him and not his works (the ark).

Points to ponder:
Can it be said of you and me that we would find grace (God’s unmerited favor) in the eyes of the Lord? Salvation comes solely by the grace of God through faith and not by works (Ephesians 2:8)
Can it be said of you and me as was of Noah that we are just, perfect and one who walks with God? In other words, have you believed in Jesus, which imputes on us the perfection (righteousness) of God and do we agree with God to do his will and purpose in and through our lives?

7 Steps in Christian Life :: Step 7 – Agree (Be of One Accord)

Christian life begins with Christ and continues with Christ, but as we live for Christ, what are some of the steps one has to take.

The word ‘agree’, stems from the Old French a gre meaning “at pleasure, at will” and is used to mean to be in harmony, of one accord, in conformance and not contention.

Step 7 in Christian life is to Agree i.e., be in one accord with Jesus Christ, conforming to his image (Romans 8:29). As we continue to walk in The Light, with the newness of life, we must be in one accord, not only with one another, but in one accord with Jesus Christ himself. In other words, our life should be all about him and his will for us. He should be the host in our life and not the guest. Jesus must increase and we must decrease (John 3:30), so much so that when we see him face to face, the change then, would not have to be substantial.

Points to ponder:
The Bible asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). We cannot walk in the newness of Life (Romans 6:4), in the Light, having fellowship with Christ Jesus (1 John 1:7), unless we agree (act in accordance) with him. And when we do, we shall walk like Enoch walked, until God took him (Genesis 5:24) i.e., we shall walk for his pleasure, at his will, in harmony, without any contention, but in total conformance and be found in him, not having our own righteousness, but that which is through faith in Jesus Christ (the righteousness of God by faith). (Philippians 3:9-11). Are you and I in agreement with God? Two cannot walk together, unless they are both agreed! In other words, can it be said of you and me, “He/she agreed with God so much so that God took him.”?

Enoch’s Job Title

The Bible records that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, walked with God until he was taken to be with the Lord (Genesis 5:24). In fact, Enoch lived 365 years in this earth and 300 of those years, he walked with God. This got me wondering as to what it really means to “walk” with God. The first synonyms of the word ‘walk’ in the Thesaurus to my surprise was “a brief travel on foot” such as a parade. 300 out of 365 years is in no way “brief” in today’s context. However, the word “walk” is also used to mean “discipline” or “profession”. In other words, Enoch did not merely parade with God, but his profession itself was to be with God. To be with God is the key. To be one with God; in other words, it is to be grafted into the vine. To be grafted is to be in agreement and not at loggerheads with God. Amos 3:3 rightfully questions “Can two walk together, unless they be agreed?” Unless we are in agreement with God, we cannot walk with him and the agreement begins with a time of reasoning. The voice of God beckons “Come NOW, let us reason (agree) together, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18). The shed blood of Jesus cleanses all of all sins and unrighteousness, when we believe in Him.

Though today, Enoch’s job title, as “The disciplined walker” would not seem too attractive in earthly sentiments, it has magnitude proportions in the heavenly realms. It far supersedes any earthly title we may have, be it Wife, Husband, Mother, Father, CEO, President, Director, Manager, or any other. So what is going to be your/my job title/testimony when you meet Jesus? I pray that mine be, Mano, walked with God and the epitaph on my tombstone (should I depart before the Lord’s return) be “The disciplined walker!” as was Enoch’s, whose profession was to be in agreement with God.
