Two great lights, Some light gods – One Great Light

The book of Genesis records that God made two great lights, to rule the day and the night and he made the stars also (Genesis 1:16, 18) to give light upon the earth and God saw that it was good. But man takes these celestial objects of God’s creations and deifies them as gods and goddesses. These man made gods and goddess, such as the sun god Ra of Egypt or Surya of the Hindus in India or Aku the moon god of the Babylonians, fall short of giving true light upon the earth. It is only Jesus Christ, The Son of God,who fulfills God’s plan of giving Light to the world (Isaiah 9:2; Matthew 4:6) and to be the ruler over all times (day and night). He is the One Great Light.

Points to ponder:
Jesus is the One Great Light.  Are you still groping in the dark or has he shined on you? The people that walked in darkness (sinfulness) have seen a great light, when Jesus was born not just in the world he created, but in them, when they believed. He is the One Great Light to rule over all the earth. Is he your ruler?

Genesis 1:16-18 (KJV)
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

2 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV)
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 9:2 (KJV)
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Who is Jesus?

If Jesus posed the question to you, that he asked his disciples – “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15), how would you respond.

The angel annunciated it.(Luke 1:32 and 35)
The demons announced it. (Mark 3:11)
The high priest asked it. (Matthew 26:63)
The disciples acknowledged it. (Matthew 16:16)
The Roman centurion and his crucifiers asserted it. (Matthew 27:54)
God the Father advertised it. (Matthew 3:17; Mark 9:7)
The Holy Spirit of God assents it. (Romans 1:4)
The Lord Jesus himself affirmed it. (John 10:36)

Jesus is God, the Son, i.e., the Son of the Most High God, God’s only begotten Son, in whom, if you believe you shall have eternal life.

Points to ponder:
Who do you say Jesus is? He whom the Son of God (Jesus Christ) sets free, is free indeed.

John 10:36 (KJV)
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Jesus in the NT :: John

The book of John gives us a glimpse of who Jesus is in the  New Testament (N.T).

It was written by the disciple of Jesus named John whose name in Hebrew is Johanan meaning God has been gracious. While Luke portrays Jesus as the Son of man, John portrays Jesus as the Son of God. Jesus is the son of the Most High God; Son of the Highest (Luke 1:31-32). Infallibly, the way Jesus’ genealogy is recorded is NOT Yeshua ben Yousef  (Jesus the son of Joseph) but Matthew 1:16 stataes that Joseph was the husband of Mary of whom Jesus, conceived in her by the Power of the Holy Ghost was born, and called Christ (Messiah/Savior)

The ever familiar verse in John 3:16 reads For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ‘Only begotten Son’ means what? The word ‘only’ implies that there is no other; no other means to Salvation. The word ‘begotten’ implies that there is no distinction between God the Father and God that Son. See we were created (made) in the image of God, meaning that we are the creatures and God is the creator and there is a creator-created being distinction. In the case of Jesus, Jesus was not created, but begotten. To beget is to be the Son of … To be begotten is to have no distinction from the father. Jesus said, “I am the Father are One”

The crescendo of the coming of Jesus Christ is given in the good news in John 3:16, but the even greater news is this, as said in John 1:12-13
12 But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Interestingly, John is the only Gospel that talks about rebirth (being born again as the children of God). The Son of God became the Son of man so that the sons/daughters of men could become the sons/daughters of God.

In John, Jesus is the Son of the Highest; the Most High God; The Only begotten Son of God.

Points to ponder:
Are you a son/daughter of God? If not, why not? All you have to do is believe and receive; believe on his name (Jesus Christ) and receive him (to be your Lord and Savior).

I had no Father, but God

I had no Father But God When visiting the Holy Land Experience in Orlando, I took the picture of the cover of a book (seen here), that I thought was very profound. This is Jesus, saying, “I had no Father, but God”.

Interestingly, when Jesus is told that his brothers and mother were seeking to speak with him, he responds by asking a question. Who is my mother? and who are my brothers? further explaining that WHOEVER (can be you, me and anybody) does the will of God,  his Father in heaven, are his brother, his sister (although he never asked who is my sister) and his mother. This is recorded in Matthew 12:46-50.

Expositing on this makes us realize that we can be the brothers, sisters and mother of Jesus a.k.a. God’s son’s and daughters, when we do the will of God. But wait, there is more, more in this than that which was verbally expressed. Did you notice, Jesus never asked, who is my Father?

During the time of His baptism and His transfiguration, the Bible records, that a voice (of God) from Heaven was heard by men, affirming that “Jesus was God’s beloved Son”. In the scriptures, we see that Jesus claimed to be the be the Son of God, which he is.

The only right conclusion to this matter would be – I cant help but have to end this by asking – Who’s your daddy?
